Another day in the office by myself. We’re having billing issues with one of the big social media companies so I’m using the time to work on backburner things I’ve wanted to do

When going on a holiday, would you want to go somewhere warm or cold, and why?

It’s not really a major factor in picking a location for me. I generally like learning about the culture and history of a place, the climate is only a factor in regards to it’s influence on those. The weather becomes a factor, but only in terms of picking the best time of year to avoid things like storms and heatwaves if possible.

There is definitely bad weather. Cyclones, hail storms, floods, severe heat waves. Clothes cannot protect you from the nasty extremes.

I prefer warmth. But if it was an adventurous holiday, I don’t have a preference, as long as the weather is calm.

If the purpose of the holiday is to lounge near a pool / beach, I want it warm. Tropical. Ocean water so warm it’s like going into a bath. The total opposite experience of summer in Melbourne.

If the purpose of the holiday is to sight see and walk many steps per day, I want it comfortable (not too hot, not too cold). Maximum temps around 25 without too much humidity is the sweet spot. Using Japan as an example, that means going in spring and autumn, and NOT summer (which is stifling).

In a bit of exciting news I’m becoming a pub trivia host. It will be a bit of consistent side money and whilst not ideal because I have to go to a place and do a thing, it’s close to home and I’ve been looking for side work for a while and gotten nothing, so this is a nice change.

I haven’t properly hosted yet, but there seems to be a balance between actually being a host and you could just run through the questions and the crowd would follow along anyway.

So it probably won’t be too difficult once I get used to it, and it’s good to know the entire show isn’t hinging on you

Physical - overworked (this is as I have a back muscle strain from last week that just won’t get better and is painful, hoping to be back at focused level soon)

Emotional - somewhere between functioning and overworked, will be better emotionally once I’m physically better. Funny how the two are very linked.

I get down too easily when I have back pain

what isn’t on the chart is getting the stuff done that needs to get done ( I suppose that come under coping )

I think we’re going to have to have a word with YB’s supervisor - maybe put YB on a first warning. Has anyone got a copy of the KPIs for the role?

Ah but then we run the risk of accidentally performance managing YB out. Have we got a suitable back up plan or are we prepared to recruit for the role? Do the absences outweigh performance and can be fill the gap with current resources?

I think our lack of personal leave, annual leave, benefits or pay of any kind may hamper any recruitment efforts. Based on this reality I believe a PIP should only be initiated if posting levels fall below 0%.

Been playing Stray, it’s such an interesting game. Went in knowing nothing about it except you’re a cat who gets lost, but it’s been fun and unsettling and the puzzles are good. It’s different from the usual games I play which are investigate every single corner, collect, grind, etc.
