So over the weekend Mr P and I formally broke up. First there was an argument where a ramekin was thrown, then a calming down and proper conversation. We’ve been in separate bedrooms for years so not much is really changing. He initially asked me to leave. I said no, I’ve been paying rent for 13½ years to the owner of the property who isn’t you. Neither of us can afford to move anywhere or pay market rent. Also with him on the dole, can’t afford to pay for all car related expenses, which is needed with the children. I said I’m still happy to pay that stuff and I think he saw that it was a pretty good deal actually and he’s best to eat humble pie and stick with it. It’s in my interests for him to have a car to do child/school related things whilst I’m at work, and I’m happy to contribute to that. I told him (not for the first time) that he’s welcome to see other people as long as discretion is exercised regarding the children. Since then things have been really civil between us. Let’s see how it goes.

Night walk. Hambam ended up rolling in some other dog’s shit. Needed bath.

I was not very popular at first but he ended up accepting his fate.

Getting that dog into the bath wasn’t very easy.

I walked out of work at lunch yesterday. My boss was understanding about it - he is…aware of my week! - but I’m now in the grey area where I’m sort of waiting on funerals.

First one of the two is tomorrow

    Woop there it is

Rent increase notice received. I had a feeling it was coming, as the places near me with a similar floorplan were increasing. I almost can’t be mad tho, it’s still $50pw under the comparable places lol!

Sent a reluctant message to the apartment using one of my two car parks, about starting to charge for it. I won’t charge them if I find a job though, and what I’m asking per month is $150 less than other car parks around here too so 💀🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve decided I need a detailed and comprehensive moving plan to make sure everything goes smoothly for my relocation. After a lot of research and considerable thought, here is what I have come up with:

Step 1: Put everything in boxes
Step 2: Move boxes to new house
Step 3: Unpack all the boxes

    I think I’ve got this.

I know pizza on the floor is tradtional moving day fare, but as I already have the dining table up there I am going to break with tradition. The current plan is tacos.

It would be handy if I could just pack them up. Pet wrangling is going to be one of the most complicated parts of the move. Miss Meow will be sedated and confined to a small pen at each end while the move happens, and my sister is going to be nanny for the day to Mr Woof - hopefully the weather will be ok and she can exhaust him with a couple of long walks.

I don’t think I’m up to a proper inventory for everything, but I printed out some stickers to label which room everything belongs to. I’m writing a quick note on that of the most important bits I’m likely to want to look for first.

I did have a plan to use the orange fragile tape on all the last boxes I pack, as they will be the ones I want to unpack first, but I accidentally packed the tape with the rest of the stationey supplies, so I might have to do some “open first” labels instead.

Usually we have Spotify on at work, but today we have the radio and they’re advertising a competition to win a ski trip to Utah and all I can think of is what if you won the competition and then were denied entry because border officials didn’t think it was enough of a reason to visit? I wonder if there’s the option to just take money instead, haha.

Did everyone stockpile machetes before they were banned today? It slipped my mind and I forgot to get mine

This has to be one of the least effective and stupidest knee-jerk reactions I’ve yet seen. It would be more to the point to ban shopping centres imo. Or teenagers. Machetes are really really easy to make - long grass slasher machine blades make the best ones. This is traditional in the bush for clearing scrub and butchering deer/sheep and opening Queensland Blue pumpkins if you can’t find the bow saw. Just screw the blade to a handle of some sort and sharpen. And I don’t think they’re going to ban council grass mowers anytime soon. Or Bunnings. Or pumpkins.

I feel like we skipped into Winter very quickly. Even the beautiful big tree behind our house was confused for ages and then dropped its leaves very quickly!

June will be winter, so in a few days it will be official… I had to check for the gardening thread as I never remember the seasons

I’ve still got some autumn colours in the garden.

With the morning frosts, I’m trying my last effort at growing poppies.

I noticed some red leaves on a maple today, maybe the colours turning has been late because we had such a warm sunny April.

I just broke my packing tape dispenser.

Fortunately it is just a plastic guard so I can still use it, I just need to be careful not to gouge the tape with the metal cutter.
