Too dumb to live. What idiot leaves a gun ready to fire, probably with safety off, unsupervised?
Oh come on, show me a single elementary school classroom in the US that doesn’t have this…
They were sleeping together, the gun just wasn’t a morning weapon and still in bed at the time.
Justice for the dog.
I almost never believe these stories. More likely the man did something stupid and is covering it up.
There’s lots of time and people in the world. Sometimes unlikely dice rolls happen. It’s just a matter of probabilities
Huh? This story is literally about the man doing something stupid: leaving in unsecured, loaded firearm where an animal could accidentally trigger it.
I mean, I guess they could be even dumber than that,* but the prior offense should be more than enough to bar them from ever owning a firearm again, right?
… right? …
… What do you mean, they work for ICE now? …
He was cleaning his (loaded) gun… Sure…
stuff like this makes a real strong case for taking guns away from everybody
Its actually a very common problem. Gun nuts all think they are John McClane and need to keep one in the chamber at all times. They remove the magazine but never properly run the action and yeah. Its especially a problem with glocks because disassembly actually involves squeezing the trigger.
Responsible gun owners are only slightly more common than good guys with a gun.
I’ve met some people who really should not have guns…
Most people I’ve met really should not have guns. And don’t, as far as I know.
Even in America, the vast majority of people don’t own a gun. Something like 70%.
Still, only the US has an annual toddler/dog gun killing rate (as in the toddler/dog shooting somebody else).
Also 44% of Americans live in a household where a gun is present.
Those cases are failed suicide attempts or they were otherwise doing something they know damned well was stupid.
Any given weapon is stupid easy to clear, in 3-4 seconds, and be certain it’s clear. Not like bullets are hiding in there somehow.
Agreed. There are a lot of people and a lot of guns in the world, so I won’t say that it’s never happened. The vast majority of those cases, though, are suicides or failed suicides where they’re trying to save face and/or make sure the life insurance still pays out.
Life insurance does pay in the event of suicide! Depends on the length of time between taking the policy and, uh, execution. Terms and conditions may apply!
If only there were a good boy with a gun
This was the good boy with a gun - that’s the problem!
guess ‘trigger discipline’ extends to household pets now. who knew they needed the lecture too?
That dog

He forgot to buy a second gun to stop his dog from using his first gun against him.
The only thing that stops a good dog with a gun is a bad dog with a gun.
Or maybe a cat with a knife, I guess? I dunno.😸
Cats already have little knives, though. Around 18 of them…
It is the cat. The problem is then you need a mouse with a rusty needle to deal with the cat.
But then you’d have to buy a third gun to protect you from the second one
Where were all the good dog gun owners to defend the victim?
The victim told police that before the incident, he was cleaning his firearm
getting shot by own gun and cleaning it, these often come together, maybe is safer to keep them dirty
Somehow he was cleaning it and it still had rounds to fire or he cleaned and reloaded and left it unsecured so it had rounds to fire. Sounds like sort of person who should own a gun for sure.
So this must be what the pigs are scared of when they’re shooting people’s dogs.
That cop car has got to be the coolest cop car I’ve ever saw.
And they took the photo with such a good angle too lol
I think that it’s a Ford Taurus-based Ford Police Interceptor Sedan.
This is crazy, officials said.
I really don’t get having loaded guns sitting around. Its not like the black powder days were prepping for a shot took minutes. Its not hard to load a shotgun. I mean Im just not worried about this fantasy scenario of having to quickdraw and shoot a home intruder.
I feel like if your dog shoots you thats your own damn fault.
Not in US. In US gun owners are never responsible for what happens with their guns. It can be the kid’s fault, the dog’s fault or even fault of the gun itself but it’s never the gun owner’s fault.
I bet it’s Obama’s fault!! 😤
“Dog bites man” is famously not a story, whereas “man bites dog” is. Replace biting with shooting and it’s the other way around.
